Friends, Candy, Cats and Pumpkins

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

We have two new members in our family!  Teo, the cutest silver tabby in the world, rescued from the animal shelter two weeks ago.  He is wild and intelligent, always hungry and fearless… And a Halloween child, Tsuki (moon in Japanese.) She is a stunning female white baby Ragdoll cat that we just rescued yesterday. The little girl is adorable! For Halloween night, we’ll be playing with the new cats, having a friend over for dinner,  carve pumpkins and give away candy to the kids knocking at the door. Happy Holidays! J Frizza

Spooky!

Friday, October 30th, 2009

Autumn nights are already cold in San Diego. The crisp, cold and clean air comes as a relief from the hot Summer days. The shorter days and long nights are productive. I get nostalgic and work on my drawings … J Frizza.

Pumpkin Heads

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

I enjoy Halloween immensely… Carving pumpkins is such a fun and creative tradition. I just went to a pumpkin carving  party at my neighbor’s house, we had delicious Mexican food and a few families got together to carve around 60 pumpkins! After we were all done carving, all the lined up pumpkin heads on steps stood radiant with an orange inner glow. I carved two scary faces with long satirical smiles on two medium size pumpkins.  This gorgeous orange fruit is always a source of inspiration. J Frizza

In my free time, I love going on long bike rides around the neighborhood. I’m posting today a detail of a piece I’ve done inspired by one of my outings… JF

Vintage Digital

Paintbrush was one of my favorite computer tools back then. I enjoyed watching the image brake apart into almost an abstract piece, cause by the limited color pallet and the low resolution. Here is an image done in 1997, inspired in a Greek play… actors in a play, pretending to be in love! JF

Another early piece I’ve done with Paintbrush, back in 1997. A portrait of a friend, having some drinks at an art gallery. I love the pix-elation of the image cause by the basic computer tool. JF

More vintage digital images I created with Paintbrush in 1994 … here are two of six images, from a short cartoon strip recounting the tale of a loud neighbor dog, with a tragic ending! JF

Flower Dream

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

This is a piece I created back in 2002. The final piece is a digital image printed on canvas, based on a drawing I did after a mysterious dream. In my dream, a was floating above Irises flowers, in awe with nature and my ability to float at will … Quite inspiring. JF

Chad Thompson @ Monkey C Media

Sunday, October 11th, 2009

The Monkey C Media Gallery was a busy place this past first weekend of October. For the South Park Autumn WalkAbout,  MCM opened a new show titled “People of South Park”. Chad Thompson, photographer and co-owner, presented a series of photographic portraits of people from around the neighborhood. The show  was a huge success. More than 500 people cruised by, enjoying the live music, wine and cupcakes. A whole community brought together by art … Remarkable! JF

“Vases & Cups” Art Show @ MCM Gallery

Monday, January 19th, 2009

A new art show at MCM! My limited edition prints from the series “Vases & Cups” are now on display at MCM Gallery. These colorful pictures are digital compositions based on sketches for ceramic pieces. The new Monkey C space is the perfect backdrop for the bright and cheerful exhibition. Come to South Park and stop by Monkey C Media to check out the art, or visit Halcyon Tea, the shop next door, for an incredible tea selection and tasty samples. The gallery and tea shop are located at 3011 Beech St, San Diego, CA 92102. There will be an artist reception on February 27, from 6:00 to 9:00 pm… everybody is invited … Happy Valentine’s Day!
