Smoky

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

My friend Peter has a little zoo in his house. He has two dogs, six cats, a parrot, seven turtles, four lizards, and four fish tanks! All the unique creatures are adorable. Here is one of them, a portrait of Smoky, the parrot. A special bird that got lost, and was found after weeks, by a lost-and-found ad on www.craigslist.com … J Frizza

Yoga Classes

Sunday, May 16th, 2010

I have been doing yoga for 6 months now, and it feels great! The ‘classroom’ is a peaceful room with wooden floors and big windows. The floor vibrates with good energy. The classes are chance encounters with strangers and new found friends. We reunite a few times a week for a soft synchronized mob dance in this sacred place. And the yoga classes have been a source of inspiration for me… here is one of my ‘yoga classes’ inspired digital sketches. J Frizza

Teo & Tsuki

Saturday, April 3rd, 2010

Our two new family members, Teo and Tsuki, are growing fast! Teo is a male silver American short hair cat, and Tsuki a female white rag doll cat. The two little cats are now turning into monsters. Both sit right next to me when I work, I can’t help it but draw them incessantly. They are the cutest things. J Frizza

Divine Betrayal

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

www.divinebetrayal.com has been one of my favorite projects this year at Monkey C. Author Graceann Deters trusted us with the promotion of her remarkable memoir “Divine Betrayal.” The book recounts the author’s life as a young girl, daughter of a missionary man working in Brazil. Designing the website and print collateral was a pleasure indeed; Graceann’s old photographs and story are a mind-blowing archive replete with vivid memories. J Frizza

My talented sister Dea, a film maker based in Barcelona, Spain, created and produced a fabulous documentary that follows the restoration of a Rhinoceros’ head. Logo: Aguara

Saturday, September 26th, 2009

“Aguara” is the name of the native Paraguayan red fox. Aguara is a word in Guarani, the native language of Paraguay, that literally means fox.  Aguara is also the name of my sister’s new venture, dedicated to promote and export native crafts from Paraguay, including pottery, textiles and such. She asked me to come up with a logo to suit the endeavor. And here it is! The playful logo is a cute memorable emblem, combining the concepts of the fox and the native pottery… What do you think? JF

Printed Collateral: Brian’s Model Call Menu

Friday, September 25th, 2009

Here is the menu I created for Brian Imoto’s facial and waxing treatments. Brian wanted a design that reflected his Japanese heritage, something simple and classy. I digitally combined several Japanese patterns to compose long vertical landscapes, one side suggesting rain on flowers, and a waterfall flowing on the reverse side. The menu is printed on a handsome jade green card stock Japanese paper… they look awesome! JF
